A program designed for your future
For one year, divided into three periods, you will explore how Boliden operates end to end, and how your own unique background and experience connect to the bigger picture. As a graduate, you are employed in a permanent position from day one and supported by an individual development program. Throughout the year several engaged and experienced colleagues, will guide you in your progress. You will become part of an international network of graduates and colleagues, expanding both your knowledge and connections. Six joint training weeks with top-class lecturers will challenge your thinking and give you the opportunity to further deepen your skills. After graduation you will continue your journey with a mentor for six months. In addition, you will receive practical training in project methodology and Boliden’s production methods, enabling you to apply what you learn directly in our operations.

As a graduate and part of Gen B, you will be given a unique gateway into Boliden. Whether you want to grow as an expert in business, engineering or tech, you will get the opportunity to grow in the area that excites you the most.
In this role as a Rock Mechanics Engineer, you'll be part of a rock mechanics team at one of Boliden’s mine sites, developing specialist expertise that supports safe and economically sound mining operations. You will combine field observations underground with technical analysis and communicate well-founded conclusions to operators, managers and other stakeholders.
Responsibilities:
Participate in rock mechanics risk assessments and geotechnical investigations.
Carry out geotechnical mapping and underground inspections.
Analyze rock conditions using field observations, measurements, and technical data.
Support technical assessments and recommendations for safe mining operations.
Combine theoretical knowledge with practical problem-solving underground.
Collaborate with colleagues across mining operations and technical functions.
Build specialist competence through hands-on experience and continuous learning.
Qualifications:
Master’s degree with a clear focus on Mining Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, Rock Mechanics or equivalent rock-mechanics-focused studies. A relevant Bachelor’s degree may also be considered if it has a strong focus on mining, geotechnical engineering and/or rock mechanics
Strong analytical skills and an interest in solving complex technical challenges are essential.

What you bring
You hold a relevant university degree completed in 2025 or later. You can communicate clearly in English, hold a valid driver’s license and are available to start in September 2027.
This role can be based either at Boliden, Garpenberg or Zinkgruvan in Sweden, or at Somincor in Portugal. The final location will be determined during the recruitment process, based on business needs.
