About the role
RaySearch develops innovative software solutions to improve cancer care. Over 1200 clinics in more than 54 countries use RaySearch software to improve treatments and quality of life for patients. RaySearch was founded in 2000 and is listed on Nasdaq Stockholm. The headquarters is located in Stockholm, with subsidiaries in the US, Europe, Asia and Australia & New Zealand. Today we are more than 485 employees with a common vision of improving cancer care with innovative software. Our great staff is crucial for our success and we offer a fantastic working environment in modern offices, flexibility and good opportunities for development. We believe in equal opportunities, value diversity and work actively to prevent discrimination.
RaySearch is expanding in the field of machine learning and is looking for a Machine Learning Engineer with strong software engineering skills to join our head office in Stockholm. In this role, you will have the opportunity to innovate and develop software that improves the lives of cancer patients around the world, while building the infrastructure, services, and developer tooling that enable machine learning solutions in the ML department to move efficiently from experimentation to clinical products used in cancer treatment worldwide.
About the job
You will be part of an agile team developing machine learning solutions for radiation oncology. Our work spans areas such as image segmentation, image synthesis, treatment planning, dose prediction, and other deep learning applications within medical imaging and radiation therapy.
You will
Your day-to-day work will involve training, evaluating and operationalizing deep learning models. This includes analyzing results using clinical metrics and ensuring that predictions meet acceptance criteria. You will work with real clinical datasets and iterate closely with medical physicists and oncologists to validate model performance against clinical standards.
The role combines machine learning research, experimentation and software development:
Develop state-of-the-art deep learning methods for medical imaging and radiation therapy.
Work on problems involving 2D and 3D medical images, anatomical structures, treatment data, and multimodal clinical information
Design experiments, define appropriate evaluation methods, and analyze model behavior.
Build and evaluate new architectures, training strategies, and research ideas and determine which approaches are worth bringing into our products
Work with large clinical datasets and develop reliable pipelines for training, validation, evaluation, and inference
Collaborate closely with medical physicists, oncologists, researchers, product owners, and software engineers
Your profile
You are someone who genuinely loves both ML and software engineering. You read papers, get excited about new architectures and training techniques, and have expertise in implementing them.
You are autonomous and self-driven. Given a problem, you take ownership: you research the landscape, form a plan, and execute without needing to be guided through every step. You know when to dig deeper on your own and when to pull in a colleague. You are comfortable making decisions, and you communicate clearly about what you are doing and why.
You contribute to a positive team atmosphere and take responsibility for your work. Above all, you care about building software that makes a meaningful impact for healthcare professionals and their patients.
