Mechanical Engineer

Build the hardware, own the platform At Frost Unmanned, you will be the engineer who turns our fixed-wing UAV from a design into a rugged, field-ready product. You will own the mechanical side of the platform: the structure, the component layout, the integration, and how it performs and holds up in real operations. You will have real influence over design decisions from day one. Frost Unmanned develops sovereign unmanned systems for defense and government customers: high-speed fixed-wing strike UAVs and unmanned surface vessels for maritime and coastal operations. We are a small team in Stora Höga, Stenungsund, moving from development into serial delivery. What you will do Lead CAD design of airframe structures, mechanical assemblies, and component layouts Set the aerodynamic and structural requirements for the platform, and work with our external simulation partners to verify their results Turn simulation data into design decisions on strength, weight, performance, and manufacturability Select, source, and integrate components and subsystems such as propulsion, fuel systems, and payloads. Design for the end user: how the system is unpacked, assembled, and made ready in the field Own the mechanical interface between the UAV and our pneumatic launcher Support mechanical work on our USV platform Take designs through prototyping, testing, and production, with drawings and documentation for our subcontractors What we are looking for Degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering, or equivalent experience Several years of hands-on mechanical engineering, ideally with UAVs, aircraft, or other high-performance systems Strong CAD skills for lightweight structures and complex assemblies. This is the most important skill for the role Enough understanding of aerodynamics and structural loads to set requirements and challenge simulation results Experience taking designs from prototype to production Eligible to pass Swedish security vetting It is a plus if you have Experience from defense or aerospace Worked with fuel systems, propulsion, or air intakes Composite materials and lightweight manufacturing Built and flown your own RC planes, UAVs, or drones Worked with launch systems, boats, or similar integration tasks Why join us Real ownership of a flying platform, not a small part of a large program Short decision paths and direct access to company leadership Work that goes from your CAD model to the field, fast A small team where everyone works on site, together, every day Competitive conditions and room to grow as the company scales How to apply Send your CV and a few lines about what you have built.
