Senior IT Architect – Sundsvall Location: Sundsvall, Sweden Working method: Partial remote Job type: Consultant / Sub-consultant Start date: 1 January 2027 End date: 31 December 2028, with possible extension until 31 December 2029 Scope: 100% On-site requirement: Minimum 3 working days per week in Sundsvall Application deadline: 29 September 2026 About the Assignment We are looking for a Senior IT Architect for a long-term consulting assignment in Sundsvall. The assignment involves working with system development, IT architecture, application management and system support within a complex and regulated environment. The role includes leading and driving architecture work within one or more development teams, conducting architecture studies, developing solution proposals and architecture patterns, and collaborating extensively with other architects and technical stakeholders. The environment is based on event-driven, distributed and service-oriented architecture with microservices, with several parallel development teams working toward shared deliveries. The organization works according to agile methodologies, primarily Scrum, with Jira and Confluence used extensively for workflow, traceability and documentation. Main Responsibilities Lead IT architecture and overall solution design within one or more development teams. Lead architecture workshops and collaborate with other IT architects. Conduct architecture studies, investigations and problem-solving activities. Develop solution proposals, architecture patterns and architecture documentation. Ensure alignment with reference architecture. Model processes and contribute to complex technical solutions. Ensure application qualities such as robustness, security and performance. Work with DB2 database modelling, including database scripts, tables and tablespaces. Provide technical support, mentoring and coaching to developers, architects and other roles. Contribute to limited-scale development when required. Take on Scrum Master responsibilities when needed. Work across multiple development teams and manage dependencies between teams. Contribute to both modern development and legacy system environments. Required Experience The consultant must have: Fluent written and spoken Swedish. At least 4 years during the last 8 years working with distributed, service-oriented platforms using Java and microservices architecture. Extensive experience developing solution patterns, architecture documentation, requirements and conducting investigations. Experience ensuring robustness, security and performance in application development. At least 10 years of experience in the Swedish public sector during the last 15 years, including extensive experience in legally and regulatorily controlled environments. At least 5 years during the last 10 years working with economic/financial systems, such as public loans, support, grants, banking or finance. At least 5 years during the last 8 years working in environments with multiple parallel development teams and dependencies between teams. At least 2 years during the last 8 years working as a coach or mentor for other participants or teams in system development. Extensive experience using Jira for workflows within and between teams. Extensive experience using Confluence for documentation and knowledge sharing. Technical Requirements Experience with the following technologies and areas is required: Spring Boot Red Hat OpenShift RabbitMQ Camunda Camunda Modeler DB2 Database modelling and database scripting REST NooBaa / S3 ObjectStore Bitbucket Xray JSM Scrum and/or Kanban Scrum at Scale / SAFe or equivalent Scrum Master Modern Java, version 17 or later Legacy Java environments and migration from mainframe systems IBM BAW MS SQL WAS 9 Java EE WebSphere Angular IBM Data Architect Additional Requirements The consultant should also have: At least 5 years during the last 10 years working within a government agency. At least 5 years during the last 10 years working within an IT organization with 100+ employees. At least 5 years during the last 8 years working with Scrum, Kanban or similar agile methodologies. At least 5 years during the last 8 years working with Scrum at Scale, SAFe or an equivalent framework. Extensive experience working as a Scrum Master or equivalent. At least 10 years of relevant experience during the last 15 years within the requested field. Experience with legacy environments involving Java code migrated from mainframes.
